One of the most well-known historical horticulturists, Luther Burbank dedicated his whole life to breeding of various plants including chestnut tree.  He had bred chestnut hybrids.
The Luther Burbank Gold Ridge Experiment Farm has partly been conserved in Sebastopol, California.
Very productive old chestnut tree.120 or more years old.
